Sterling Silver~
Sterling silver is made from 92.5% pure silver and 7.5% of other metals, usually copper, which increases both the strength and durability of silver without diminishing its beauty.
Karen Hill Tribe Silver~
This silver is 97 – 99% pure and is beautifully handcrafted by the silversmiths of the Karen Hill Tribe in northern Thailand. All pieces produced by the Karen are individually made and crafted by hand. All Hill Tribe components used in Gemonie designs are
fair trade approved.
Gold Filled~
Gold filled jewelry has a surface layer of 14 karat gold bonded to a base metal. Unlike gold plated jewelry,
gold filled is tarnish resistant and because it contains a higher percentage of gold, it is considered more valuable. It has the durability and beauty of solid gold but is less expensive.
Lampwork Beads~
Lampworking is a technique of producing uniquely beautiful glass beads, using rods of glass heated over flame and wound around a steel mandrel. The beads are then annealed in a kiln to ensure they are strong and durable. The lampwork beads sourced for Gemonie are produced by talented lampwork artists on both sides of the Atlantic. Their work is both unique and exquisitely beautiful.
Murano Glass Beads~
Originating from the Venetian island of Murano, these beads are also made using melted glass over flame. Silver or gold foil is then enveloped within the glass layers. This practice has been developed and perfected by artisans for hundreds of years and both Murano and Venetian glass beads are famous for their beauty and clarity of color.
